SMK Taman Daya is in the middle of residential areas Taman Daya. The school area is 12 acres. The distance between the school and the city of Johor Bahru is 19 km.

The school opened on December 4, 1995. It took in students who previously studied in Sec. Men. Keb Taman Johor Jaya (1) and (2), Sec. Men. Keb. Dato 'Jaafar, Sek Men. Keb. New Majidee and Sec. Men. Keb. Sri Tebrau who live around the Taman Daya, Kangkar Tebrau and Pandan. The number of teaching staff at that time only 18 people. It started with three transition classes, eight classes of Form 1, and seven classes of Form 2.

The school has two blocks of four floors of Block A and Block B, two blocks of two-storey for science laboratories and Block D to Life Skills workshops, servicing Domestic Electrical Equipment and Clothing Design and Sewing. The school has a prayer hall, pavilion, cafeteria, parking, and bicycle parking.
